Vintage-Model B3 & B4 Mouthpieces for Bb trumpet
Vintage-Model Mouthpiece Bodies:
  • STC-1: standard-weight (for all-around playing)
  • LT: lightweight (for lead mouthpieces or a brighter sound)
  • XLT: extra-lightweight (for lead mouthpieces, very bright sound)

Rim Size Comparison: Conventional 1-1/2C, Schilke 16, and other similar rim sizes
 
The B3/B4 size range is very much a 'middle of the road' rim size, and a great option for former 3C, 5C, or 7C players who would like a bigger sound.
 
B3 and B4 rim options vary in rim contour:
  • B3 Rim: Feels a bit smaller than the B4 options, similar to the size of a conventional 2C
 
  • B3F Rim: This was a custom rim design with a fairly flat rim contour, hence the letter F in the name
 
  • B4 Rim: The original B4 rim design is somewhat flat, with a fairly sharp bite. Many players will prefer the softer-feeling B4S rim instead.
 
  • B4S Rim: Originally created for our friend Lew Soloff, hence the letter S in the name. Although sized like other B4 mouthpieces, this rim design was based on Lew's favorite vintage 3C
 
  • B4L Rim: Lead mouthpieces in this rim size have a bit more cushion on the rim for extra comfort with demanding high-note playing

  • Prana mouthpieces allow for the most resonant sound, most effortless playing, and most consistent pitch and timbre
  • Classic mouthpieces can feel more forgiving for players who tend to play with a tighter physical approach, or who are accustomed to a non-Monette mouthpiece
 
Plating & Finish:
Classic mouthpieces have a shiny, buffed 24k gold finish
Prana mouthpieces have a brushed 24k gold finish

  • Monette mouthpieces are made-to-order and usually will not be available as ready-made stock. The standard estimated wait time to have a trumpet mouthpiece made is approximately 6-8 weeks. Vintage-Model mouthpieces are mostly discontinued and likely to involve a significantly longer wait time. The exact wait time is unpredictable, as it is affected by many variables.
